Most people complain, "Oh, I don't have a tablet so I draw badly" or "Oh, I only have Paint so I'm really bad." Saying that is just saying I'm a terrible artist, which is true, but, y'know. |D But the true fact is, it doesn't MATTER what you've got. I draw on a mouse, it takes a little getting used to, but it's fine, and even though I have Paint.NET, which is better, I still use Paint a lot. (I'm more of a pixelly person than an airbrush/watercolour person, so yeah |D) Anyway, this is a tutorial about how to draw, and a bit exclusivley on Paint. This is more on the drawing and lineart, if you want to learn to colour, go to the colouring tutorial. ![]() Step 1: Choose a colour on your DEFAULT pallette. It must be easy to reach and cannot be a custom colour. That just takes up time. Draw a circle and put two lines through it, like I did. The vertical (up and down) line should be the middle of the face, and the horizontal (left and right) line should be about where the eyes are. ![]() Step 2: Sketch out your drawing! Try an be particular. If you need to put more detail in, use a darker colour, but remember it will be harder to get rid of later, so if you're lazy like me you'll probably only use one colour. ![]() Step 3: Okay you do heaps in this step so listen carefully. First, change your colour to black and select the brush tool, and choose your size. Draw your lineart. Then, select the colour you used to draw the sketch with, and flood fill the area with that colour. Select white and floodfill the area again, and the lines should be gone! You may need to do this s few times to get rid of all the sketch. Do this for all the areas. There are a few other ways to get rid of the sketch, but this is the way I use. Okay, so you have your lineart, what now? Time to taper! I can be tedious, it can be fun, but it makes your picture so much better. Select the eraser tool (or if you're using Paint you can just use a white pencil, brush ect) and make the lines thinner at the end, like I have in the diagram above. The following steps are ony basic colouring, and at the end, line colouring, if you want more on colouring got to the How to Colour tutorial. ![]() Step 4: Floodfill all your colours. make sure to block off open areas so the colours won't bleed. ![]() Step 5: Put in all your shadows and highlights! Go to Colors> Edit Colors> Define Custom Colors to make your colour brighter or darker. ![]() Step 6: Time for colouring in your lines. First, choose the colour you want to start off with. I want to colour in the lines for the darker green patches first. Second, select the colour you want to overwrite. Choose the darkest shade you have for that colour, then go Colors> Edit Colors> Define Custom Colors. Make the shade darker, then click "Add to Custom Colors" then click "Ok". ![]() Step 7: Now, select the current colour if your lines, which is black, for your foreground colour, and the colour you just made as your background colour. To do that, Right-Click the colour on your pallette. ![]() Step 8: Now, Right click and hold, and drag over the black lines. They should turn the colour of your Bg colour! Do this for all your colours on the picture. ![]() Step 9: And there you have it! Your masterpiece! That took so long x-x Hope you leared something from this tutorial! |
